Episode 1
Why Is a Woman Talking About Men's Issues?

Welcome to the debut episode of the Secure Masculinity Podcast!

Join me, Dr. F. Persia Jamshidi, as I talk about the meaning and intentions of this podcast, shedding light on how my background as a cancer scientist informs my current work as a masculinity researcher.

To the men out there, are you ready to shine a light on healthy and positive masculinity by eradicating toxic masculinity?

To the women out there, are you wondering why men do what they do?

Then listen in because this podcast is for you!

In this episode, you’ll learn:

  • Why I transitioned from being a cancer scientist to a masculinity researcher.
  • The connection between cancer science and masculinity research and mental wellbeing.
  • Why I think the pink ribbon is a big scam.
  • Why I created this podcast (spoiler: it’s not to teach men how to be men!).
  • About the Positive Masculinity Academy & Feminists For Men Inc.
  • And last but not least, why is a woman talking about men’s issues?!

Let’s get into it!

Here are a few key takeaways…

  • 80% of all suicide deaths are men. Why is no one talking about this? After working with 7,000+ male research participants around the world, I found that men are ready and willing to talk… except there are no safe spaces for them to do so, so they don’t.
  • The biggest reason I chose to research masculinity over cancer is because there are plenty of great scientists researching cancer, but not many researching men and masculinity the way I do.
  • My goal is to listen to men, understand their intricacies, develop a language that is specific to them, and create an environment that is inviting, caring, and safe. I don’t teach men how to be men, I help them discover their unique masculine identities, feel validated, and live authentically and confidently.
  • Everyone in society needs to learn how to facilitate open communication with men and allow them to be vulnerable without fear of their masculinity being under attack.
  • If we offer tailored services to men in seven specific areas discovered by my extensive research, we can tremendously reduce pressure and stress which in turn, will improve mental well-being and reduce the suicide rate. Tune in to learn more!

“My work with men brings women to the table with respect because men don’t live in a vacuum. We all live in society together and if we want to take care of one group, we need to have other groups available and willing to make a real change.”
